In December Amin & I had some email correspondence regarding customers actually typing in their referring friend’s affiliate code at check out (instead of relying on cookies or the affiliate ID appended to the URL). I thought I saw that this was going to be added into the plugin or an easy extension to it (but I could have seen wrong).
Is there any way to do this. Below is a summary of what I’m talking about (per my email with Amin back in Dec)
1) there will be an addition text field below or above the coupon field that will say “Affiliate Code” where the customers can enter an affiliate code of a friend.
2) when the code is entered and the sale goes through the plugin will award the commission for this sale to the proper affiliate.
Any help/feedback is appreciated.
Thanks again!

I sometimes take on small customization work if time permits so please send a request using the contact form on our site and we will discuss this.

My affiliates can then advertise to customers “Enter code ‘XYZ’ to save 10%” and theyll also get commission.

I would prefer this be implemented as either a unique coupon code for the affiliate, which they could set up in their admin panel, or request from the affiliate admin to have created.
I am envisioning my customers handing brochures or business cards to their customers with a unique discount code that ties to the affiliate and the discount %.
BTW – I just added/configured WP Affiliate and it seems to be working great the first time. Wonderful!
Thank you!

March 30, 2010 at 2:55 pm #17866IlluminatorLadyMemberWonderful! Thank you for this feature!
I am trying to implement/test it now. I have selected to use “Link Affiliate ID with Coupons Table” on the eStore Add-On settings, and have created a test coupon code. Now how do I link it to an affiliate?
Is this documented somewhere that I am missing?
Thank you!

Now when the customers use this “affiliate ID” in the shopping cart they will get the discount and also be giving credit to the affiliate.
March 31, 2010 at 11:50 am #17868IlluminatorLadyMemberJust tested this out and got it working. This is awesome!
If you ever decide to enhance this feature in the future, it would be nice for affiliates to have more than one coupon code for different customers (discount level for friends/family, discount level for other).
But this is a great start!
Thank you very much.
