Are there instructions I can give a developer if they want to create an addon to work with WPestore? I am interested in using Mailster as my autoresponder and the developer has offered to create a plugin for it.

No, not really. Each addon will have different requirements so this has to be handled on a case by case basis.

Have them take a look at the eStore_auto_responder_handler.php file, and the code for the eStore MadMimi Integration Addon:
