Tips and Tricks HQ Support Portal › Forums › WP eMember › Additional Characters for username? Or, Forgot Username function?
I would like my users to be able to use their email address as their username so its easier for them to remember it but I have had an issue when testing long email addresses with what seems to be a limit to the amount of characters allowed to be used for usernames? Is there anyway to extend the amount of characters allowed for usernames? If so where can this be done?
The alternative would be to allow them to create whatever username they would like but my fear is that if the user forgets their username there is no function such as “forgot username” that I can see? Can you please advise how a user would obtain their username in the event they forgot it similar to the “reset password” function that is currently built into eMember?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi,
I don’t really see the problem.
There is a “Forgot Password?” link on the membership login page.
When one of your subscribers clicks this they will only need to enter their email address and they will receive an email containing BOTH their username and the new password.
Ok.. well there is no problem with that. I must have missed that it sends the username. So as long as they enter in the valid email associated with the user id they will get a new temp password along with the username associated with it?
Hi,
Yes that’s right.
