Adding members in bulk with pre-set access permissions

Is there a way to add people to the eMember database with their appropriate membership level in bulk?

I have roughly 2,000 customer who have purchased my product previously. I’d like them to be able to access the downloads page through the eMember system of access permissions. Can eMember send an email to those I enter into the system myself and “invite” them to register in eMember, setting up their username and password as usual. They would not be purchasing anything during this process (usually).

I know I could invite them to sign up as a “free” member and then change their member level manually. I’m looking for a way to automate this.

You should be able to bulk upload your members data from a CSV file using the WP CSV to Database plugin:

WP CSV to Database Plugin – Import Excel File Content into WordPress database (MySQL)

When you bulk upload there is no option for members to get email though. You can tell your member to use the “Forgot Password” functionality to fix up the password though as their emails will already be in place and this should work fine.
