I now have two membership levels. If someone wants to upgrade from the first to the second, I believe they just click and checkout using the same button as people joining straight in at the higher level do, and their account is auto-upgraded if logged in?
What about if they try to upgrade when not logged into their existing account?
What happens to the original paypal subscription, does it get auto cancelled or do they now have two subscriptions running?
If not logged in, there is no way the plugin can know if the person already has a membership and what his/her membership level is hence can’t upgrade to another membership level.
If the person is already subscribed to a membership, he/she needs to manually cancel the current subscription before upgrading to a new subscription (it doesn’t get auto cancelled).
