Hi,
For some reason download encryption seems to have stopped working out of the blue. Different error messages have occurred, but ultimately a 4KB download is recieved which, when opened, provides a new zip file with the same title and “.cpgz” appended to the end. The debunk file download message I got is pasted below. This is from a link I created in the Admin Functions page.
I am going to try a few things tonight when I have some time, but any help in the meantime is appreciated.
Thanks,
Shawn

January 21, 2011 at 4:02 pm #28255wzpModeratorThere seems to be no DL file path conversion happening. Try selecting either the Absolute or Relative DL path conversion preference.
January 21, 2011 at 4:15 pm #28256pwradioMemberThanks for the quick response. Where do I find that?
January 21, 2011 at 4:19 pm #28257pwradioMemberI think I found the problem. I turned off the fancy paypal redirect that says it may conflict with plugins, and suddenly the download worked. I’ll get back to you if there are any more issues, thanks!
January 21, 2011 at 5:20 pm #28258pwradioMemberHi,
Sorry, I take it back. It let me download one file and went back to not letting me download. Soooo… Where can I find the Absolute or Relative DL path conversion preference? And… why would it convert one but not the next?
Thanks
January 21, 2011 at 7:10 pm #28259wzpModeratorWP eStore -> Settings -> addon Settings -> WP eStore Download Manager Related -> Automatic URL Conversion Preference -> (Default) Absolute
The log extract you provided seems to indicate the preference is set to “Do Not Convert” instead. If the preference is actually set to Absolute, there may be some server related issue that is preventing eStore from performing a proper conversion.
You can also try the “Relative” setting as well. In either case, the debug log should indicate a conversion. If not, we need to explore why the conversion is not taking place.
January 21, 2011 at 7:22 pm #28260pwradioMemberThanks. Its all set to default: Absolute and Method 1. I changed to relative, but nothing seemed to change. Thoughts?
January 21, 2011 at 7:50 pm #28261wzpModeratorSo, setting the conversion preference still results in a “No DL file path conversion performed” message. The second clue is the presence of a .CPGZ compressed Unix CPIO archive file extension.
Are you self hosting, or are you using a commercial hosting provider?
January 21, 2011 at 10:41 pm #28262pwradioMemberI THINK I am self hosting? I have my own server space through Startlogic.
January 21, 2011 at 11:21 pm #28263wzpModeratorStartlogic is your hosting provider. I asked because some people use their own computers (self hosting) which can complicate the troubleshooting process.
You’ve said that “…different error messages have occurred…” Can you recall any of those messages you’ve seen?
January 21, 2011 at 11:31 pm #28264pwradioMemberFirst ones were reported by a customer:
“I’m just after purchasing … but the download link for the MP3 zipfile failed to appear. Instead there was a message saying that the payment failed to be processed.”
Then she got the email with the link. Of course the link was faulty.
In terms of what I’ve seen, I cannot recall the error messages. Mostly, however, I enter a link and it sits for a minute or more before sending the “empty” .zip file.
I checked the error logs on my server, but there is nothing… in case that matters.
January 21, 2011 at 11:55 pm #28265wzpModeratorI think Amin needs to take a closer look at your system. You might try a different download method, but I don’t think it would help; because the DL path conversion preferences don’t seem to be behaving as expected. The failure of the conversion preferences suggests that something is going on with the server configuration.
January 22, 2011 at 12:02 am #28266pwradioMemberOk, thanks. I assume you’ll pass the info to Amin? Should I provide any server or admin login information in advance?
Would you recommend checking with Startlogic support? If so, what might be some good things for them to look at?
Thanks for putting the time into this!
Shawn
