Tips and Tricks HQ Support Portal › Forums › WP eStore Forum › WP eStore General Questions › 3DS Authentication for PayPal goes live tomorrow 14th Sept
Hi, I had previously mentioned this in another post, and just want to make sure that the eStore plugin deals with PSD2 appropriately. My client received the below email this morning, warning that it goes live tomorrow.
You had previously said this was ok, and that we didn’t need to worry about it – is that still the case? Thanks!

You’ll know that the EU’s second Payment Services Directive (PSD2) legislation comes in to force on 14 September 2019, which means credit and debit card providers across Europe will have to guarantee more secure card payments online using two-step verification, known as Strong Customer Authentication (SCA).
To comply with SCA, card providers will require 3-D Secure (3DS) authentication – where merchants who host their own card processing systems to request authentication of the cardholder prior to payment authorisation.
To meet this PSD2 standard and keep accepting card payments in your business, you will need to make sure you are using 3DS through the Cardinal Commerce. Cardinal also support the new EMV 3DS protocol (often called 3DS 2.0), which provides optimized experiences and reduced friction for cardholders.
Some types of transactions such as subscription payments, have some additional requirements you need to be aware of to ensure they continue to process.

Just to add to this, I’ve updated both the eStore and Gateway plugins to the latest versions, so perhaps this is all that is required?
Thanks.
Yes, the plugins are now SCA compatible. So you should be good.
Many thanks!
