2FA Add On Text to Phone Option

We need to be able to allow our members to retrieve their 2FA codes from their phones in addition to the option of have the code emailed to them. Is there a way to do this or are there plans to perhaps add this functionality sometime soon?

There are issues with implementing SMS forms of 2FA. First, you must subscribe to an SMS 2FA service; such as “Authy.” Authy is free for end-users (“you”) but they charge developers (“Tips & Tricks HQ”) on a per-successful authentication cost; plus phone charges. That is not an attractive product model for us.

Alternatively, it may be possible for us to develop a plugin that used Google Authenticator; but again, there is a per-authentication cost.

Would you accept an e-mail 2FA solution?
