Hi,
By using Emember content protection feature, is it possible to restrict access to a member redirecting him to a specific gallery page after he logins?
I know it’s already possible redirecting to a page, category, post etc..and finally becoming his access protected. But what I want is ONLY grant access to a page for a specific member just after he logins. This member cannot access another member’s page. Each individual content page is restricted to that member.
Can I have all these things setup properly under WP Emember?
Thanks a lot.
January 31, 2012 at 9:57 am #41430adminKeymasterThere is a shortcode to protect the section of a post or page for a particular member only. You can find that shortcode from the section protection documentation of eMember plugin:

February 3, 2012 at 6:46 pm #41431epimazzoMemberHi,
Thanks for your reply. You mean that by using that tag for a specific member, I’ll be able to redirect him to a gallery page where only him could see the content? Should I add that tag in gallery page or in a post?
Thanks
February 4, 2012 at 4:31 am #41432adminKeymasterYou can use that section protection shortcode on a WordPress page or post. Here is an example:
[emember_protected member_id=1]
You can put your gallery plugin’s shortcode here if there is one.
Whatever content goes here is only viewable by a member whos Member ID is 1.
Some more content here (Maybe an image or other stuff). All these are only visible to Member with ID 1
[/emember_protected]
February 4, 2012 at 2:17 pm #41433epimazzoMemberHi there,
Better I explain in details what I ‘m trying to achieve.
In Gallery, I create three different ones where I want restrict access to login members only. See:
– User 1
– User 2
– User 3
User 1 cannot access images or even see them in user 2 or 3. Only on his user 1. The same applies to video as well.
I setup login redirection directly to the gallery page. But once user is there, he’s now seeing everything from user 1 to 3.
Then, I used the protection shortcode above in each gallery using the specific member ID. It didn’t work.
User 1 for instance still access user 2 and 3 content (images) not text.
So, to restrict images and texts from be access by a particular member ID, what should I put there exactly?
The other thing I have faced is when no user is logged, they still access gallery content (images and texts). I setup gallery page enabled with protection and membership level. But it didn’t work as well.
The way I’m deploying the website is to hide gallery page and its content (images, video and texts) to everyone not logged in as well restrict such content through member IDs.
Any tips on how I setup these all things would be kind appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Eduardo
February 5, 2012 at 4:04 am #41434adminKeymasterFirst you need to understand how the content protection in eMember works. Once you have that ready then move to the section protection.
Create a test page and play around with the protection so you understand the basics of it. Check this checklist:
Next, Create another page then simply place the following content (don’t do anything else to this page) and post a link to this page so I can view it:
[emember_protected member_id=1]
Whatever content goes here is only viewable by a member whos Member ID is 1.
[/emember_protected]What version of eMember are you using?

I’ll try your tips and let you know later how is going! I’m using V7.6.1 just downloaded.

February 5, 2012 at 11:43 pm #41436epimazzoMemberHi,
I’ve played a bit following your suggestions but unfortunately no luck.
I disabled categories in general and membership level that points to that page I created to be the gallery template. It didn’t work. No logged in users can still see it. All docs and also you always mention posts. Does it have something related so only posts it will work in eMember?
I registered with an user called “a” and gave him an ID 4. I used the shortcodes that restrict section in both galleries I have with ID 4 . There’s another member with an ID 1. This mentioned gallery (ID1) is seen by this ID4 as well. Can’t figure out why as shortcode is set to ID 1 only and also restricted in WP editor.
Maybe you have to help me out getting access to my WP admin and check that out.
The point is why member ID4 sees content ID 1 and why public have access to the gallery page which shows up the whole gallery images? This page (gallery template) should be hidden from public and only visible to logged in members. The free membership ones.
What do you think?
I confess be confused.
Thanks
February 6, 2012 at 12:05 am #41437epimazzoMemberI realized content restricted is only applied to texts inside shortcodes (sections). This actually works under a member ID I specified there. But in case I’m showing images or video with Vimeo, they are all accessible by this ID and no logged in users. This is wrong. I don’t want these content restricted to a member ID I haven’t setup as ok to access actually have that access enabled.
I expect not see images, video and texts as well to a page/gallery I setup as restricted to not logged in users and individually to a specific member ID.
Hope I could clarify what’s going on.
