Redirect to "page last viewed by user" after login

Is it possible to redirect to the “page last viewed by the user” after a user logs in to a site?

In the settings I see the option to set either a redirect page location or the checkbox for redirecting to the HOME page after login.

If by “page last viewed by the user” you mean the last page the member viewed in a previous log in session then the answer is no.

By default, if a member follows the “Login” link from a post then after he logs in he will be redirected to that post. This will work if you have the “Enable After login Redirection” option unchecked from the settings menu otherwise it will go to the “After Login Page” URL that is specified in the settings menu.

More specifically, say a user was looking at “Page A” before they went to log in to the site. After they logged in, they would automatically be redirected back to whatever “Page A” was.

If the customer is on a page then asked to login to view the content they would be redirected back to the same page after log in. This can be done using Amin’s explanation above.

Hi there, I’m trying to get this to happen on my site, however when you click ‘login to view content’ and then login it just takes you to the page that says

You are logged in as: joanne

Your membership level is: xxxx

# Logout

# Edit Profile

what am I missing?

Hi, Do you have the “Enable After login Redirection” option unchecked from the settings menu otherwise it will go to the “After Login Page” URL that is specified in the settings menu.

Can you give us an link to the your site so we can take a look at this?

Also what version of eMember are you using?

Hi Ivy,

the site is in maintenance mode at the moment so isn’t showing up live. I have version 4.9.6 and definitely have the option unchecked.

also when a page is protected it gives this message Please Login to view this Content.(Not a member? Join Today!) but the login and join today are not hotlinked? how do I make this happen.

Hi Ivy,

thanks I got your email and did the update. It’s now hotlinked but takes you to the join now page and doesn’t return you if you login. Maybe I better explain better.

What I would really like to do is for the ‘section protect’ area on a page to say

Please Login to view this Content.(Not a member? Join Today!)

NOT This content is for members only. – but I don’t know how to change this. I’d like them to have the option to either login or join now because I’m only using pages there would only be this written once.

I found how to change from “This content is for members only” to “Please Login to view this Content.(Not a member? Join Today!)” BUT when I click please login it won’t bring up the login form on the page.

Did you make the word “Login” a link to your login page?

Hi,

I have the “Enable login after redirection” box unchecked, and no URL is entered in the Member area for redirection, either. However, when users come to an area that is protected and click the login link in the message that asks them to subscribe or log in, this is what happens:

They click the “Log in” link

They’re brought to the Login page

They enter their UN and PW

The login box changes to show their login credentials and membership level

They stay on that page and are not redirected back to the article they wanted to read

How do I change it so that they are automatically redirected back to the content they want to access? I’m hearing complaints from users about this, so of course I want to fix it as soon as possible.

Do you have the “Disable Inline Login Widget Option” feature unchecked? If you keep it unchecked, it won’t send the user to a login page when they click on the login link on a protected post or page. Instead, it will allow them to log in via an inline widget on that same post or page so after the login, they stay on that article.

I cannot get this working.. I have tried all the afore mentioned options and no luck.. My users still login and get the member info page.
