Hi there, I have two things, one may be just a wish list item:
First, I have set up a way for customers buying music on my site to search by genre using your category filter, category=genre. I added the shortcode for this to the page that’s linked to the genre link on the store page: http://blog.themikieshow.org/category-symphonic/ Notice how the description has not followed the product. Anyway to include that?
Second, Since I am selling music, I need the mp3 preview of the music to follow the product around wherever it might show up in a search. I tried a workaround with cariation but that didn’t work. Anyway to do this, attach the mp3 permanently to the product? Maybe put it in the description? Thanks. Your plugin is great!
July 3, 2011 at 11:30 pm #33911mikieMemberAnd one more thing related. When a product or products show up in a product search, I wish they would either go to another page that lists them all as in here: http://blog.themikieshow.org/musicstore/ or at least make each product in the list that the search window returns, clickable. I think this is doable but I’m having a little trouble finding it. Thanks so much. BTW someone just came by and I showed them your plugin, expect a call from Yikes Toys in Tucson soon!

The different pre-configured product display options in eStore have different uses. All the display won’t show the same information. You can go through the available product display options from here and choose the one that suits you best:

If none of them are suitable then you can use this method:
Regarding the product search. If you specify a product page link for your products then the the products will be clickable when they show up in the search result. You can specify a details product Page URL for a product in the “Product Page URL” field.
The purpose of the search is to show the results in a compact display (one row per product). It only shows the vital information so it can be accommodated in a row.
July 4, 2011 at 11:03 pm #33913mikieMemberThanks for all this I’ll try it later tonight. One more thing, the search products window on my store page does not search categories, anyway to do that? Thanks.

July 5, 2011 at 12:46 am #33914amin007ParticipantThe product search is meant to search products only. We can add another parameter to that shortcode so you can make it search both products and categories for your install.
July 5, 2011 at 4:30 am #33915mikieMemberOkay how do we do that?
July 5, 2011 at 5:11 am #33916amin007ParticipantWe will modify the extra shortcode plugin to accommodate this.
July 5, 2011 at 7:35 am #33917mikieMemberThat is very awesome. Should I check back, do you send me a bill, an email?
July 6, 2011 at 2:32 am #33918amin007ParticipantI have added another parameter for the search shortcode. You can now use the following to make it search the categories table as well as the products table:
[wp_eStore_product_search search_category=1]
You will need to get the updated version of the extra shortcode plugin from here:
July 6, 2011 at 6:16 am #33919mikieMemberYou are good.
BTW I’m going to a W3-Total Cache scenario with MAXCDN. I found your workaround for W3, I’m a little freaked about the security breach, anything I nee to know about using MAXCDN (or any other CDN)? Thanks again for your speedy support!
July 6, 2011 at 6:24 am #33920mikieMemberDoes this new code also include the add to cart button?
July 6, 2011 at 6:38 am #33921mikieMemberHmm, I followed your link, downloaded the plugin. Removed via ftp the old version and uploaded the new one. It doesn’t seem to be working.
July 6, 2011 at 7:48 am #33922amin007ParticipantThe one with the add to cart one is a different shortcode. I haven’t added this option in that shortcode yet. I will do it later.
July 7, 2011 at 4:16 am #33923mikieMemberThat new shortcode [wp_eStore_product_search search_category=1] works but only for category id 1. Anyway to make it search all categories? Thanks.
July 8, 2011 at 7:04 am #33924mikieMemberI must be getting annoying but what the heck. For the wish list: Make the search window do all the above but also have multple search terms separated by a comma. So when we search for a genre of music we can type “romantic, electronic” for instance.
