Hi, I need some help setting up some pay per view options. I am trying to set up a site that offer video classes. I would like the students to view the class with these options:
1) able to view the class for up to 365 days
OR
2) able to view the class up to 12 times
PS, here is an example of what I am trying to create: [http://www.craftedu.com]. These videos will play with a short preview and then you will have to pay to view the rest of the video.
I will have my videos hosted on Amazon S3 for security.
I currently have Nextgen gallery plugin installed and using your instructions I’ve created a gallery with test products. I like how everything is looking, but would like to make one change.
Is it possible, when someone clicks on a thumbnail for the video, it opens in a new window that they can then play the video?

WP eStore’s Pay Per View option is simple:
You pay for an item, you get to view it.So, if you set the expiry to 365 days and the download counts to 12 you might be able to get what you are after but I wouldn’t recommend that.
A better way to handle this type of setup is to use a membership plugin. A membership plugin allows you to protect the section of a post or page. So you can have a teaser video (30 seconds long) that is available for everyone to see then just below it embed the full video but it is only available to a member. This lets you control which user can see what and for how long and stuff.
Ok, I understand. I do also have WP eMember so that is where I would control it.
Just so I understand, I would set up a teaser video but this would not be a product in WP eStore, just a teaser video.
Then for the full video, I would set it up as a product in WP eStore and protect the viewing with WP eMember. I would use WP eMember to control who can view it and for how long they can view it.
I am curious if this was resolved. I have the same needs/issues with the true page address being visible in the source code. It appears from your site that you found a solution. Nice site by the way.

Hi, does the Pay per view works for buy now button checkout only or shopping cart checkout only, or it works for both checkout options?
Using the APR (new PPV) method works for any eStore purchase; that results in the creation of an encrypted URL link.

I bought eStore to protect live streamed pay per view content. But then I discovered in the forum that you can send the encrypted link to a friend and they can watch the content too. It was suggested to buy eMember to protect the content. Once installed, I completed the registration and when I logged in, the video was protected by the eStore encryption.
I went to a second computer and was able to use that login to access the page simultaneously when logged into the first computer [even though the eStore encryption was hiding the content] which means I could register – then send all my buddies my login to get access to the content.
I simply want to protect our live streamed PPV so that someone can’t register and send a login and/or a link to others to view.
How do we set that up?
We do have a lot of options (to cater for various different types of setup) so it is likely you got a little confused with all the options. Do the following and let me know if that works for you:
Edit your WP eStore product in question, then set the “Download Limit Count” field’s value to 1.
That will make it so when someone purchase that product, it has ONE usage of that encrypted download link. So that user can use it himself or give it to someone but it can only be used ONCE.
Does that make sense?

I tried setting the Download Limit Count in my experimentation earlier today. The problem is, if someone pays to view our live stream, then something happens say . . . their computer crashes and they have to re-boot or they mistakenly close the browser, when they click on the link to get back to the live stream, they will be denied access. Isn’t there a way to tie the encryption or the login to an IP address?
We are live streaming boxing events. What I need is for someone to come to the site, pay to access the content [from only the computer that they signed up on for as long as we are streaming] and not be able to share it with anyone else.

I need to set up a Pay Per View Boxing event that we are live streaming.
If I use APR with eStore, then I found that I can send that link to anyone and they can view the live stream without paying. Same for if I make them sign up for a membership with eMember, they can send the login to someone else and that person can watch for free.
So, how do I set up a live-streamed, PPV that is secure, not time sensitive or using the Download Limit Count?
APR links are tied back to the encrypted link download manager. If a person were to bookmark an APR page link, and then share that link, it would not work. The only way APR protected pages can be shared, is if you don’t have any time or count expiry limits set on the encrypted link that gets you to the APR page.
As far as the sharing of login credentials go, that is the same issue faced by HBO Go, Netflix and many others. The best solution is to go after the people who share login credentials; through the legal system.
