When I did several test purchases, I got the confirmation emails from PayPal to both buyer and seller. However, no sales were registered in eStore, no new customers were created, and the customer was not added to Mailchimp.
I did a test of a free download with a squeeze page and I received the email with the download information, a new customer record was created in eStore, and I was also added to Mailchimp. So it seems like that’s working correctly.
But as soon as I run a purchase test again, I have the same problems as above – no sales registering, no customers created, and no customers added to Mailchimp.
I’ve run this several times with debug enabled and every single time, my logs are empty – even when I changed the logs’ permissions to 777.
I’ve been all over these forums and have tried what feels like everything – confirmed it’s not a problem with my theme, disabled the Mailchimp plugin, disabled other questionable plugins…
Simply can’t figure out why these transactions aren’t registering for eStore or Mailchimp.
Anything I’m missing? Thanks!
May 16, 2012 at 11:54 pm #45137PeterMemberHi, The most common cause for this is that you have “IPN” turned of in your PayPal merchant account profile so PayPal is not sending the payment notification to the plugin.
Anyway, let’s find the exact reason for why your log files are empty.
Can you please go through the following checklist which will help you pin point the exact cause of this:

May 17, 2012 at 2:46 pm #45138nomadamyMemberThanks! I went through that whole checklist yesterday before I posted and my log files are still empty.
I don’t have a PayPal sandbox, but I also reviewed the list of how PayPal options are supposed to be set up, and I can’t figure out where to go in my PayPal account to check the IPN settings. (I have a business account, is that the same as a merchant account?)
May 17, 2012 at 11:54 pm #45139adminKeymasterYes, a PayPal merchant account means the account you use to sell online (in this case your PayPal business account).
Please post a link to the page where you have a product and I will be able to check a few things for you.
You can find the “IPN Settings” at the following area of your PayPal account profile:
My Profile -> My Selling Tools -> Instant payment notifications
PayPal do change things around in the profile area so it maybe slightly different in your account profile but if you go through the items in the profile you will find it.

All my test purchases from the past few days were listed in the history but showing that the notification was disabled. I enabled the IPN and did another test transaction, and everything’s working perfectly.
Thanks!
Does this also solve the mystery of why all my log files were empty, or is that a separate issue?
May 20, 2012 at 12:12 am #45141adminKeymasterYes, that also answers why the log files were empty (the plugin wasn’t receiving any IPN so it had nothing to write to the debug file).
