Since Friday 2 September, my customers no longer receive an email to confirm that they have made a purchase, and I no longer receive a confirmation email. We both still get notification from PayPal, however.

I have made no changes to my settings recently — to the plugin, my site, or hosting settings.

To remedy it, I have enabled/disabled the “Use WordPress Mailing System” option in WP eStore settings. I have also tried an SMTP plugin for WordPress, to bypass mail scripts. Neither of these worked when I did dummy sales.

These notifications are very important to our business, so if you can advise what we might do to fix it, it would be very much appreciated.

Please run a test transaction with the debug turned on as this will give us a better idea of what exactly is happening after a payment. The following forum post will help with that:

    https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/how-and-when-to-enable-debug-and-what-does-it-do

If you need help reading the debug log feel free to share the content of the following two debug files

    – ipn_handle_debug.log

    – eStore_post_payment_debug.log

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I do not have eStore_post_payment_debug.log. Instead I have eStore_payment_debug.log, and it is empty after running a transaction in debug mode (it is write-enabled).

    ipn_handle_debug.log is:

[09/06/2011 9:13 AM] – SUCCESS :Paypal Class Initiated by 80.40.220.33

    [09/06/2011 9:13 AM] – SUCCESS :Post string :

[09/06/2011 9:13 AM] – SUCCESS :Connection to http://www.paypal.com successfuly completed.

[09/06/2011 9:13 AM] – FAILURE :IPN validation failed.

[09/06/2011 9:13 AM] – SUCCESS :Paypal class finished.

Update: Turned out that the user changed his PayPal IPN notification preference on PayPal account profile which stopped sending the payment notifications to the plugin

Did you reset the debug log? because these entries seem to be old (look at their date and time value).

I am pretty sure the payment notification from PayPal is not even reaching the plugin which is why it is not writing new debug.

Go through the checklist here to find what you did wrong:

Once you fix that it will start working automatically.
