Tips and Tricks HQ Support Portal › Forums › WP Lightbox Ultimate › Amazon Cloudfront Video won't play on IOS Device
Hello,
I added the following shortcode to this page: [http://take2learning.com/test-video-2/]
[wp_lightbox_ultimate_amazon_s3_cloudfront video=”anyoneforgolf.mp4″
domain=”s1uxxztgdnyg5a.cloudfront.net” width=”640″ height=”480″ title=”Anyone For Golf”
anchor_type=”image” source=”http://take2learning.com/wp-content/plugins/gls3protection/images/vidlink/A4G.2.jpg”%5D
but the video won’t play on either iPhone or iPad – I tried with the HTML5 setting checked and unchecked.
I have also linked directly to the video in this page so I know the encoding is OK.
Here is a screenshot of the error message on my iPad – same message on iPhone:

Hope you can help with this.
Thanks
That’s because iOS, like Android, doesn’t “do Flash.”
Try this:

@webwizz, RTMP streaming requires the player to run the video in flash mode. It doesn’t work with HTML5.
If you want your video to be iOS compatible try our Amazon S3 integration instead, where a video is distributed by progressive download:
Thank you – I’ll do that.
I have another question I can’t find an answer to – is it possible to have an image show in the lightbox while waiting for the video to fully load?
Hi, currently we don’t have this option. It shouldn’t take long for the video to start playing though. As long as the player can read the metadata it should play the video almost instantly. You can read more about it here (“Video 1” section):
