MemberI’ve just installed WP Affiliates and love it so far! One question though. I apologize if this is a simple issue and I have just overlooked it, but I’m pretty new to this.
I have a separate page for Affiliates, allowing them to log in while preserving the look and feel of the website (as the tutorial suggested). The page looks great and the login works, but the affiliate is redirected to the site’s home page after logging in. He then must re-click the page link in order to access account info.
What am I missing? Thanks for your help!!!

ParticipantHi, Please post a link to your affiliate singup page. What version of the affiliate plugin are you using?

I downloaded the Affiliate plugin just today – looks like v4.6.1. Thanks for your help!

ParticipantThank you… your affiliate signup option is disabled. Can you please create a test affiliate account and share the details so I can log in and see the behavior?

ParticipantLooks like for some reason the get_permalink() WordPress function is not returning any value after the login operation on your site so it is falling back to the home page URL. I have added another condition in the plugin which will try another method to determine the URL. Please get the new build of the plugin from here and try it out:

MemberHmm… could not activate the newest version. The following “fatal error” was returned:

ParticipantMake sure you follow the upgrade instructions explained here:
People forget to delete the old version of the plugin before they upload the new version.

MemberOK You’re going to think I’m dumb… I followed the instructions in that I deactivated and then deleted the plugin. It no longer showed on my Plugin menu at all. I then attempted to reinstall, getting the above error. After the error was returned, I deleted the updated plugin from the list as well, with the intention of re-attempting installation.
Funny thing, though, after deleting the updated plugin, the plugin is still fully functional, with all its information, even though it does not show up on the plugins menu?
I imagine this means it still exists in the WP Plugins directory, but how would I go about getting to that directory to delete it? The site is not housed on my local computer.
I’m afraid you’re going to say FTP

ParticipantLOL.. Looks like the deletion did not happen properly. The only way to do a clean delete of the plugin from the plugins directory is to log in via FTP and delete it from there. So, yes please log in to your site via FTP and clean it up and it will work fine. The installation video tutorial will show you how you can use a FTP program.

MemberAlas, it’s me again. Pulling hair out.
I can’t seem to establish an FTP connection. I read that wordpress.com sites do not have FTP access, because they are free blogs and we are limited to what’s available on the Dashboard? In any case, the FTP errors (from FileZilla) are to the effect of “connection refused”. Seems my credentials are fine, I’m just not allowed in.
I’m sorry I’m a dummy at this, and I really appreciate your patience/help!

ParticipantI have sent you an email to get site access so I can take a look.

ParticipantI just did the following and it worked fine (I was able to do all of this from the wp dashboard):
1) Go to the list of active plugins from your plugins menu
2) Hit the deactivate button for the “wp affiliate platform” plugin
3) Go to the list of inactive plugins
4) Click delete for the “wp affiliate platform” plugin. Confirm the deletion of this plugin.
5) Uploaded the new build of the plugin and activated it.
check it out now.
